- Practice 2 Results
The Pirelli GT4 America grid returned to the track at Barber Motorsports Park on Friday morning for Practice 2 as part of the UAB Medicine GT World Alabama benefiting Teal Wings of Hope. With familiar names rising to the top across all three classes, the frontrunners made it clear they intend to set the tone for the weekend. Even so, plenty of teams remain within striking distance ahead of a pivotal qualifying session to come tomorrow.
Silver Class
JMF Motorsports continued their strong form from Thursday, with the No. 4 Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT4 EVO of Mike David Ortmann and Braydon Arthur pacing the Silver field. The sister No. 3 Aston Martin of Jesse Webb and Jonathan Neudorf, who finished first in Practice 1, slotted in just 0.032 seconds back, ensuring another intra-team battle at the sharp end.
The final spot in the top three came down to a close fight between RAFA Racing Team and Random Vandals Racing. The No. 68 Toyota Supra of Tyler Gonzalez and Gresham Wagner ultimately finished ahead of the No. 97 BMW M4 GT4 (G82) EVO of Kevin Boehm and Kenton Koch to secure third place in class.
Pro-Am Class
Michael Auriemma and Matheus Leist kept the momentum rolling in the No. 23 NOLASPORT Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport, topping the Pro-Am category and running third overall while splitting the Silver class contenders.
The No. 7 ACI Motorsports Porsche of Riley Dickinson and Curt Swearingin stayed in contention throughout the session, finishing second in class and fifth overall. Behind them, the No. 94 BMW of Sam Craven and Josh Green looked set to secure third place until a late push from Michael Cooper vaulted the No. 33 Blackdog Racing McLaren Artura GT4, shared with Tony Gaples, into third in the Pro-Am order.
Am Class
The Am field showed their hand once more, with the No. 98 Random Vandals Racing BMW of Paul Sparta and Darius Trinka leading the way and sitting just outside the overall top 10.
Thunder Bunny Racing’s No. 606 BMW of Allen Patten and Laura Hayes claimed second in class, while BimmerWorld’s pairing of James Clay and Charlie Postins rounded out the top three in the No. 36 BMW. With the same trio of teams repeating their performances from Practice 1, the Am battle looks poised to be one of the weekend’s most tightly contested storylines.
With both practice sessions complete, the stage is now set for qualifying at Barber, where the field will look to convert their pace into prime starting positions.
