- BMW Wins Silver and Am classes
- Porsche Victorious in Pro-Am
- Provisional Race Results
The postponed Pirelli GT4 America round from Road America found its home at Barber Motorsports Park this weekend, where an action-packed make-up race kept the championship battles tight across all three classes. With weather no longer a factor, the race unfolded with plenty of drama and strategic shakeups that reshaped the podiums.
Silver Class
The Silver class saw a fierce fight from the start, with Mike David Ortmann standing strong in the No. 4 JMF Motorsports Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT4 at the head of the class throughout the opening stint. A pair of Pro-Am competitors separated Ortmann from Gresham Wagner in the No. 68 RAFA Racing Team Toyota GR Supra GT4 EVO2 and Kevin Boehm in the No. 97 Random Vandals Racing BMW M4 GT4.
At the pit stop and driver changes, Wagner handed over his Toyota to Tyler Gonzalez and Boehm exchanged with Kenton Koch. A full-course yellow at the halfway mark played into their hands, vaulting them into the top two spots while Braydon Arthur, taking over from Ortmann, cycled back to third.
As the laps ticked down, Gonzalez worked through traffic cleanly to open up a cushion while Koch found himself bottled behind Am-class runners. That gap vanished in the closing stages, however, with Koch reeling Gonzalez back in and making the decisive pass for the lead in the last laps. Behind them, Jonathan Neudorf put relentless pressure on Arthur, taking advantage of late damage to move the No. 3 JMF Aston Martin into third.
Random Vandals Racing ultimately secured both the Silver class and overall victory, with RAFA Racing Team and the No. 3 JMF Motorsports entry completing the podium.
“Honestly, this race just required a lot of patience,” explained Kevin Boehm. “This the hottest the track has been and we just had to manage the tire and the car. I just had to try to stay in touch with the guys in front of me because you never know what's going to happen during the exchanges or with possible yellows. I gave Kenton the car in the right place to be able to do something with it at the end. This guy is amazing!”
“This win started from the beginning with Kevin putting in a good stint,” echoed Kenton Koch. “We overshot our tire pressures a little, but when we came in, the team bled them down. The car felt pretty good after that at the end, and then it was just all about trying to put the work in to try to catch Tyler Gonzalez in front. We had just a little bit more pace on the long run, and it felt good to get the move done. It was tight racing, but we always have good battles with Tyler, and it's been a fun championship battle this year. Hopefully we can get it done before the end of the weekend to clinch it.”
Pro-Am Class
ACI Motorsports executed a commanding early performance in Pro-Am with both of its Porsches. At the start of the race, Riley Dickinson led the field overall in the No. 7 Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport, with teammate Loek Hartog in the No. 9 right behind. Marc Miller also moved his No. 37 Dome Motorsports Mercedes-AMG GT4 into the fight for the top three early on.
A mid-race full-course yellow triggered an unusual sequence of pit strategies. The top three in class all stayed out while the bulk of the field dove to pit lane. When Dickinson, Hartog, and Miller finally made their stops together, they lost overall track position but kept their class order intact.
The second half of the race saw Josh Green slice his way through the field in the No. 94 Random Vandals Racing BMW to claim second in class. A late spin by Edward Killeen commanding the Dome Motorsports Mercedes-AMG shuffled things further, with Tyler McQuarrie moving the No. 82 BimmerWorld BMW into third.
At the checkered flag, the No. 7 ACI Motorsports collected the class win, followed by Random Vandals Racing and BimmerWorld Racing.
Am Class
The Am battle was equally chaotic. Judson Holt initially led with James Clay and Laura Hayes in the No. 606 Thunder Bunny Racing BMW M4 GT4 giving chase, until Holt and Clay came together with 34 minutes remaining, sending Holt into the wall and prompting a full-course yellow.
After pit stops, Allen Patten continued to hound Charlie Postins for the lead. Contact between the two saw Postins’ No. 36 BimmerWorld Raicng BMW M4 GT4 spin but able to continue. As the race wound down, both Patten and Postins were hit with drive-through penalties—Patten for contact responsibility and pit lane speeding, Postins for his earlier incident.
That sequence promoted Trinka to the class lead in the No. 98 Random Vandals Racing entry with teammate Paul Sparta. Despite a late spin for Patten, the running order held steady. Trinka took the Am class win ahead of Postins for BimmerWorld Racing and the Thunder Bunny Racing.
