The Pirelli GT4 America grid took to Barber Motorsports Park on Thursday afternoon for the UAB Medicine GT World Alabama benefiting Teal Wings of Hope event, starting off with a strong opening practice session across all classes. Under sunny skies at the 2.38-mile, 17-turn circuit, a field packed with championship contenders and fresh faces wasted no time setting the tone for the weekend.
Silver Class
Fresh off topping the TC America charts earlier in the afternoon, Jonathan Neudorf carried his momentum into Pirelli GT4 America, going quickest in Silver with the No. 3 JMF Motorsports Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT4 EVO with teammate Jesse Webb. Neudorf and Webb slotted themselves ahead of teammates Mike David Ortmann and Braydon Arthur in the No. 4 JMF Motorsports entry early, initially making it an Aston Martin 1-2 in class.
However, championship leaders Kenton Koch and Kevin Boehm showed their consistency once again, moving from third to second in the final ten minutes of Practice 1 in the No. 97 Random Vandals Racing BMW M4 GT4 (G82) EVO.
Pro-Am Class
The Pro-Am field saw some lead changes, with Michael Auriemma and Matheus Leist in the No. 23 NOLASPORT Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport holding both class and overall honors for the first half of the session. Their run was eventually eclipsed by Riley Dickinson and Curt Swearingin, who surged to the top in the No. 7 ACI Motorsports Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport.
Sam Craven and Josh Green ensured Random Vandals Racing kept themselves firmly in the mix, finishing third in class in the No. 94 BMW M4 GT4 (G82) EVO.
Am Class
Random Vandals Racing further extended their presence by setting the Am-class benchmark with Darius Trinka and Paul Sparta in the No. 98 BMW M4 GT4 (G82) EVO, building a comfortable margin over their competition.
The No. 606 Thunder Bunny Racing BMW of Laura Hayes and Allen Patten impressed once again, going second-quickest in only their second weekend with their new machinery. Closing out an all-BMW top three, James Clay and Charlie Postins placed third in the No. 36 BimmerWorld BMW.
