ACI Motorsports, Random Vandals Racing and Thunder Bunny Racing Bolt Ahead in Practice 1
  • BMW / Random Vandals Racing tops the chart in Silver
  • ACI Motorsports and Porsche quickest in Pro-AM
  • Thunder Bunny Racing makes noise in AM
  • Practice 1 provisional results

The 2025 Pirelli GT4 America teams took to the track in the early afternoon on Friday for their first official practice session of the season. The morning rain clouds gave way to bright sunny skies over Sonoma Raceway as a full grid of cars across all three Silver, Pro-Am, and Am classes made the most of the 45-minute session.

Returning contenders ACI Motorsports and Random Vandals Racing proved their prowess in the Pro-Am and Silver classes, while Thunder Bunny Racing made their mark in the Am category.

Silver Class

The 2024 Vice-Champions Kenton Koch and Kevin Boehm had a point to prove as they set off in their No. 97 Random Vandals Racing BMW M4 GT4 (G82) EVO. With the former behind the wheel in the closing stages of Practice 1, Koch secured the fastest time in class on his final flying lap. The duo finished third overall in the standings.

After partaking in select events the season prior, VPX Motorsport began their full-year campaign in strong fashion as Alex Ellis set the second-quickest time in the Silver class on board the No. 77 Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport.

There was barely anything separating the Top 3 from one another, as the No. 71 Marco Polo Motorsports Toyota Gazoo Racing GR Supra GT4 EVO2 of Mads Siljehaug and Nicolai Elghanayan went third-fastest in class, just a mere 0.040 seconds behind Ellis.

Pro-Am Class

ACI Motorsports set the tone in Practice 1, as the class champions from 2024 made it clear that they are striving for a repeat performance. Equipped with a new teammate pairing of Curt Swearingin and Riley Dickinson, they stormed to the top of the overall leaderboard with the No. 7 Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport in the final minutes with a best time of 1:42.626.

Michael Auriemma and Matheus Leist settled in second place aboard their No. 23 NOLASPORT Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport machine, just ahead of Random Vandals Racing with Sam Craven and Josh Green co-commanding the No. 94 BMW M4 GT4.

Am Class

The No. 606 Thunder Bunny Racing rose to the top of the AM charts, and also in the overall Top 9. Allen Patten and Laura Hayes set a time of 1:43.173 aboard their Toyota Gazoo Racing GR Supra GT4 EVO challenger. The field was tight across all categories, relegating the No. 188 Fast Track Racing BMW M4 GT4 entry of Judson Holt and Dave Ogburn to second in class but 18th overall, though their best lap time was a competitive 1:43.844.

Coming in third was the familiar pairing of James Clay and Charlie Postins, as the two series veterans and multi-time champions are sharing their trusty No. 36 BimmerWorld BMW M4 GT4. They were a mere 0.118 seconds back from Fast Track Racing.
